The Challenge
Since joining the small Pawmates team as a Design Consultant in 2022, and later as the Design Lead in 2024, I participated in this Pet’s Social Platform growth through iterations of product and brand development. On April 2024 I was tasked by the CEO to reevaluate, rethink and redesign product suite.

Concept Goals
The first step was to address one of the significant challenges faced by the persona - the language barrier. Understanding this need was crucial to navigating their situation.

END OF CYCLE
I began to look collect further user data from primary interviews, secondary desktop research and identify further pain points.
From there I began to look at what a final concept would look like and which problems it would solve.Concept Goals

Power Dynamic
Drawing inspiration from initial concepts, the power dynamic of the final product was conceptualized. The primary problem to solve was to assist the Immigrant Settler in assimilating into Canada by connecting them with Sponsors who understand their culture and can help them overcome barriers such as language, disability, and dependents.

Final Prototype
Olive Branch emerged as a networking app for settling immigrants who want to connect with well-established sponsors. These sponsors can offer assistance through their journey, thanks to shared language and/or culture. The app is designed with two separate user journeys to cater to the needs of the two user types.

KPIs
Frequency of Milestones Accomplished: This KPI can help determine how often users are able to meet their goals, which may indicate how well the app addresses users' needs over time.
Active Conversations between Settlers and Sponsors: The number of active conversations could indicate the level of engagement and interaction the app promotes, demonstrating its effectiveness as a networking tool.
Number of Settlers Connected to a Sponsor: Higher numbers might suggest that the app is successful in facilitating beneficial connections.
Sponsor Satisfaction Score: Regular feedback from sponsors could help assess whether they feel they're effectively aiding settlers.
Success Rate of 'IceBreakers': The frequency with which these prompts lead to meaningful conversations can indicate their effectiveness.
